Until May 25 Advocates for Women are collecting personal care products—we call it a paper drive—for the homeless women and their children at Mary's Place in Seattle. Just bring items from the list below to Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church and leave your donation by the Advocates for Women table. We are targeting these products:
We are getting ready to make 12 lovely tote bags filled with candles, manicure sets, fuzzy sox, and much more intended to pamper refugee women who have experienced domestic abuse. At our June meeting we will fill the bags with products our members have purchased or made for the women at Refugee Women's Alliance. Would you like to help us?
We are looking for people to sew tote bags and to bring nice gifts for filling them up. We view these bags as gifts to friends, so we fill the bags with nice quality products which we might give to a personal friend. Usually, two or three people team up so no one has to donate 12 items. The cost can add up quickly. If you would like to donate items to put in our bags, please contact Advocates for Women, so we can coordinate the giving.
Do you enjoy sewing? You can make a tote bag from the step-by-step instructions. We give away 12 bags twice each year, so we can always use another one. We want them to be the same size, so please follow the tote bag instructions.
Drop in and join us at one of our monthly meetings. We normally meet on the first Monday of each month—even holiday weekends—from September through June. But, just to be sure, check the calendar before you come.
