The Meaningful Movies Project

The Meaningful Movies Project is a non-profit organization that assists neighborhoods, groups and individuals to organize, educate and advocate, using the power of social justice documentary film and relevant conversation to build positive and meaningful community and a more just and peaceful world.  As of May 2018 there are 28 Meaningful Movies venues… and growing!

Sno-King Meaningful Movies

In the spring of 2015, members of the EUUC Peace & Justice Committee teamed up with two other groups, Snohomish County Peace Action and the Social Action Ministry of Shoreline UU Church, to form Sno-King Meaningful Movies.

The three partner/sponsors share the responsibility to further the mission of the Meaningful Movies Project by selecting and screening thought-provoking films followed by community discussion, often with special guests in attendance.

Sno-King Meaningful Movies screens films bi-monthly at 6:30 pm, each 2nd Saturday of odd-numbered months.  Our films are shown at EUUC in Chapman Hall.  We are unofficially partnered with the Everett Meaningful Movies, who screen their Meaningful Movies on the 2nd Saturday of even-numbered months.

You can find our next films by scrolling to the Events at the bottom of this page.

Would you like to help or learn more?

We are organized by a Steering Committee with 2 representatives from each of the 3 sponsors who meet monthly to review input for prospective films, select candidates, create the schedule, secure the film rights and create promotion.

On film-night, the Steering Committee manages the flow of the evening, greets guests, and serves as announcer and facilitator for the after-film discussion.

We are joined by our volunteer film technician and a willing team of volunteers, who manage our Welcome Desk, serve and maintain the refreshment table, and help clean up afterward.

We are always looking for more willing volunteers.  Let us know if you are interested in joining our team!
