October Sunday Offering: The Promise and the Practice of our Faith

The Promise and the Practice of our Faith Campaign is the recipient of our Sunday Offerings in October. Imagine what our faith would look like if we upheld and centered the history, the perspectives, the voices, and the leadership of Black Lives of Unitarian Universalists (BLUU).The Promise and the Practice of Our Faith Campaign is our opportunity to take the lead as a faith denomination by addressing our history of upholding white supremacy. Together, Unitarian Universalists can collectively work to dismantle white supremacy and amend a long broken promise to the Black Lives within our Association. EUUC joins with other Congregations in connecting our finances with our theological values as we enter a new chapter within our faith.

As a part of our commitment to this campaign, EUUC is devoting our October 7th, 2018 service, to its theme, “The Promise and the Practice of Our Faith”; and contributing all of our October plate offerings to Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism. We have committed to contribute a minimum of $10 per member of our congregation to help match a $1 million pledge to BLUU and to put our money in line with our commitment to dismantling white supremacy, racism and oppression from within our congregation, denomination and beyond, and to uplifting the Black Lives, Voices and Leadership of Unitarian Universalism.

What is the Sunday Offering?

When the baskets are passed during Sunday services, people contribute cash and checks to help the recipient organization which was chosen for that month. All cash and coins go out the door to that month’s recipient. Checks written to “EUUC” with “cause” on the memo line and all cash are tallied each Sunday. At the end of the month, a check is written for the recipient organization. Any contributions made via mobile device designated for the Sunday Offering that month will also be included.

Sunday Offering for July and August was for Habitat for Humanity, Snohomish County Chapter. Collectively we contributed $4,589.
