September Cause of the Month – Volunteers of America Western Washington

Volunteers of America Western Washington is the Sunday cause of the month for September.  The mission of Volunteers of America® Western Washington (VOAWW) is to serve people and communities in need and create opportunities for people to experience the joy of serving others

VOAWW and Trinity Lutheran Church came together in 2015 to pursue a shared vision of creating a space for our neighbors to serve and be served, to build community, and thrive. Born from that vision is the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center, a two-story, 40,000 sq. ft., LEED Gold-certified facility centrally located on 2.13 acres at 64th Avenue West and 196th Street SW in Lynnwood. The Lynnwood Neighborhood Center will be a welcoming place where people from diverse backgrounds can connect and receive wrap-around services and outcome-driven programs that address gaps in the social determinants of health in our community.

The facility is expected to serve over 20,000 community members annually through spaces designed to accommodate preschool education, youth development, medical, dental and behavioral health support, non-profit partner offices, trainings, meetings, events and community gatherings. The design is intended to be flexible to change as community needs evolve so it will remain a vibrant community hub for generations to come.

The funds from our EUUC Sunday Offering will be applied to the VOAWW Capital Campaign to break ground on the LYNNWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER.

As always, thank you for your generous donations.

This organization was nominated by EUUC member Steve Woodard. Full disclosure Steve is the Vice President, Community Engagement for VOAWW.
