May Cause of the Month – Women Spirit Coalition

Woman Spirit Coalition

The May Cause of the month is WomenSpirit Coalition. WomenSpirit Coalition’s mission is “Eliminating violence against native women and promoting the well-being of native families and communities.”

WomenSpirit Coalition is located in Sequim, WA and serves 29 tribes of Washington state, focusing on 7 tribes of the Olympic Peninsula. The organization provides culturally specific technical assistance to tribes and tribal programs in the work of preventing and eliminating domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence and sex trafficking.

WomenSpirit Coalition seeks parallel development for Tribes/Tribal programs in the work of preventing and eliminating domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and sex trafficking. This includes developing:

  1. Standard setting policy and practice for Tribal service delivery models;
  2. To ensure Tribal programs have equal access to skill development and leadership development opportunities; and
  3. That Tribal programs are being given the response and consideration they are entitled to as Sovereign Nations.

The funds donated by EUUC will go to support funding of programming and Tribal support, into the area of highest need as determined by the organization.

Please help support the WomenSpirit Coalition in this important work of eliminating violence against native women and promoting the well being of native families and communities.

This organization was nominated by the Advocates for Women and Racial Justice Committee.
