The July Cause of the month is the Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal (BFX).  Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children through the arts, specifically by celebrating and preserving the rich traditions of folkloric dance.

BFX was founded in 2023 to empower children and teenagers through the preservation of folkloric dance, celebrating cultural heritage while fostering a sense of pride and belonging. Initially a community-driven initiative, it has grown into a nonprofit serving students within the Edmonds School District, now ranging from elementary school aged to high school aged.

Their programs offer folkloric dance classes to primarily low-income families. They provide costumes, volunteer instruction, and practice space, ensuring equitable access to arts education. Performances take place both within school and the community, promoting cultural awareness. By focusing on culturally responsive teaching, BFX addresses disparities in access to arts programs and creates an inclusive environment.
