Housing the homeless

tiny house

New communities of tiny houses are sheltering homeless people in small village settings from Newfield, NY in the east to Olympia, WA in the west. These small houses not only serve as homes — with mail service, a locked door, and a community of neighbors — but they feel like homes to their residents.

Building a community nearby

We are working to create a village of tiny houses in Snohomish or King County. At this early stage we are building a team of people and organizations who can offer ideas and help shape the plans as they take form.

Architects are drafting a conceptual drawing

We have an architect!! Julie Taylor’s firm, Integrus Architecture, has committed to doing a general plan and a conceptual drawing (pro bono) that will allow us to partner with other organizations and apply for funding. We met with the President of Integrus and our assigned architect recently and found them to be very enthusiastic.

Building partnerships

In September we connected with the Snohomish County Homeless Policy Task Force, the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness, Verdant Health Commission of South Snohomish County, Snohomish County Office of Community and Homeless Services, Snohomish County Office of Housing and Community Development, Cocoon House, and the Housing Consortium of Snohomish County. Our networking continued in October. Everyone has been so welcoming!

Looking for land

We are presently searching for land. Anyone with a spare acre or two, please let us know!
